The project aims to return a hilly course of strong three-dimensionality by minimizing the use of matter. The stone slabs were machined with CNC machine, able to produce precisely all the components necessary for the realization of the form. The final relief, hollow inside, is composed of the dry superposition of all the elements produced.
Raffaello Galiotto
After studying in Fine Arts in Venice he founded his own design studio in 1993 in Chiampo, Vicenza, Italy. The product design activity, especially in the furniture sector, combines interest for research, materials, production processes and technology. In the marble sector he designs numerous products and collections with important companies of the sector, investigating the characteristics of stone, such as surface, gravity, translucency, color, use of digital technology and reduction of waste. He has received several awards for his work with important companies in the stone sector, receiving for many years the recognition of Marmomacc, Best Communicator Award; he was selected by ADI Index for his lithic projects and business research. He has created exhibitions and conferences on design, being part of the ADI Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige. Since 2014 he is curator of “The Italian Stone Theatre”, experimental pavilion of Marmomac. He has been a professor of design at the University of Ferrara since 2011.
